Description
Authentic early‑era Hartmann leather suitcase, dating to the 1940s–1950s, featuring the brand’s classic tan belting‑style leather, brass hardware, and their early paisley textile lining. This model includes Hartmann’s original mid‑century organizer system: a leather‑trimmed interior panel with three slide compartments, plus a lift‑up center panel revealing the lower storage compartment.
The exterior carries Hartmann’s bolted leather nameplate with gold foil lettering, a hallmark of their pre‑1960s production. Hardware, stitching, and interior layout all align with early Hartmann craftsmanship, making this a desirable example for collectors, decorators, and prop buyers.
Condition
Good functional condition with age‑appropriate wear consistent with a 70–80 year‑old leather case.
- Leather shows some patina and some surface wear
- Interior lining has an area of separation from the case and a small separation at the seam on the edge of the fabric that is barely noticeable.
- Original security strap near the handle is torn off
- Latches open and close smoothly; keys not included
- Handle is sturdy and fully usable
All wear is cosmetic and does not affect structural use. The case displays beautifully and retains its early Hartmann character.
