Description
Stunning vintage 1950s Adolphe Zelinka New York two‑piece bouclé wool coat and skirt set, sold through the prestigious Raleigh Haberdasher Washington. Crafted in a rich heathered brown wool bouclé, this mid‑century ensemble embodies the refined tailoring and sculpted silhouettes of the New Look era.
The coat features an ultra‑soft natural fur collar (likely fox), beautifully plush with only the faintest touch of matting at the very edge — not noticeable when worn. The interior is lined in a luxe crepe satin, and the matching skirt closes with a sturdy NYNCO metal zipper, a hallmark of quality mid‑century construction.
This set carries its original ILGWU union label, National Recovery Board Coat & Suit Industry tag (#148936), and both designer and retailer labels
Condition
Coat: Excellent vintage condition. Fur collar is extremely soft and full. Only a tiny area of subtle matting at the edge of the fur — not noticeable when worn. Wool bouclé is vibrant, clean, and beautifully textured.
Skirt: Excellent overall. Only flaw is a small section of loose stitches at the very bottom of the lining — an easy repair if desired.
Construction throughout is impeccable, with the hand‑finished details expected from Zelinka’s mid‑century tailoring.
